Chemical Properties
The oxide slowly absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air. It is insoluble in water but soluble in mineral acids to form colorless white salts of the Gd+3 cation. The carbonate and oxalate are insoluble in water whereas the nitrate is soluble.
