Molycorp
Employees Help Contribute to the Community Through
New Grant Program
This year Molycorp launched a new community grant
program that gives employees the opportunity to reach
out to the communities where they live and work. Over
the years, employees have supported various groups
through volunteering, in-kind and corporate sponsorships.
To facilitate more structured giving, Molycorp formed
the Employee Contribution Committee in 2004. This
volunteer committee, made up of members from the workforce,
has provided support and funding to a broad range
of organizations throughout Northern New Mexico.
Molycorp is committed to improving the lives of people
in the communities where our employees live and work.
We are continuing to further that commitment with
our Community Grant Program. Administered by our Employee
Contribution Committee (ECC), the Program provides
funding, in-kind and volunteer support for organizations
near our operations. Molycorp supports community organizations
in a number of focus areas: Youth, Health and Human
Services, and Economic Development.
In addition to these areas of focus, Molycorp wants
to ensure that its resources are being maximized for
sustainable programs that create long-term value.
Demonstrated sustainability is important for the Grant
Application and can include identifying other partners
and/or sources of funding, years of operation, and
other unique success criteria.
Molycorp’s Grant Program is limited in its ability
to fund certain types of programs and/or activities.
Molycorp can only provide funding to substantive organizations
or programs. Additionally, Molycorp’s financial
Grant resources can not be used for construction work
or repair projects. Finally, Molycorp’s Grant
Program can not be used to sponsor an individual.
